Unveiling the iPhone 15 Pro: RAM, Storage, and Performance Upgrades

Apples iPhone 15 Pro is set to feature LPDDR5 RAM (6GB or 8GB), diverse storage options aligned with iPhone 14 Pro tiers, and an upgraded A17 SoC with enhanced graphics and processing power. Notable upgrades include a titanium frame, USB-C, and a periscope zoom lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

In recent months, there have been numerous speculations swirling around the storage and RAM specifications of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro. These rumors have been somewhat conflicting, but we now have some verified insights courtesy of MacRumors.

Apple has apparently conducted testing on various storage configurations for both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Interestingly, Apple has sourced NAND storage components from multiple vendors, adding a layer of complexity to the picture. Despite previous hearsay about a potential 2TB storage variant, MacRumors couldn't substantiate this claim. Similarly, a Weibo leak suggesting a starting storage capacity of 256GB for the iPhone 15 Pro appears to be inaccurate. Instead, it appears that the storage options for these new iPhones will align with those of the iPhone 14 Pro.

Moving on to RAM, MacRumors reports that Apple intends to employ LPDDR5 DRAM for the iPhone 15 Pro, consistent with the RAM technology used in last year's flagship models. Testing has been conducted with two RAM configurations, namely 6GB and 8GB, sourced from specific suppliers. The final choice between these configurations remains unclear at this stage. It's possible that Apple may opt for 8GB of RAM for models with higher storage capacities, aligning with recent reports from TrendForce.

Beyond RAM and storage, the iPhone 15 Pro is poised to feature an upgraded A17 SoC (System on Chip) manufactured using TSMC's advanced 3nm process. This chip is expected to deliver improved graphics performance, thanks to an additional GPU core. Furthermore, the performance cores within the A17 will see a boost in clock speed, reaching 3.70 GHz, up from the previous A16's 3.46 GHz.

In addition to these hardware enhancements, the iPhone 15 Pro will introduce several notable improvements. These include the adoption of an all-new titanium frame, a transition to USB-C connectivity, and the integration of a periscope zoom lens in the iPhone 15 Pro Max model.
